Description

Therapeutic play is an evidence-based approach to help children with social or emotional deficits learn to communicate better, express underlying feelings they may be struggling with, change their behaviour, develop problem-solving skills, and relate to others in positive ways. It is appropriate for children undergoing or witnessing stressful events in their lives, those struggling with academic and social problems, learning disabilities, behavioural disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or anger; as well as those with attention deficit disorders, or who are on the autism spectrum.

I cannot emphasize enough how helpful I found this course. I really appreciated that Tania was willing to answer specific questions regarding behavior we see in our workplace. I found the information the course provided was beneficial for parents, as well as care providers in the workplace. I appreciated the focus on development and all the background information before diving into what Therapeutic play actually looks like. I also found it really helpful to get to see play therapy rooms and the recommended toy list.
