Simplifying: Connecting to Calm
Feeling like your life is chaotic? Hard to manage time, activities, work, meals, and ultimately balance as a parent? Do you children seem overwhelmed and you know something has to change? Wondering if there is way to make things easier on yourself and your family, but aren't sure where to start?
The Institute of Child Psychology is here to help you gain clarity and peace as a parent. Inspired by the work of Kim Payne and his model of Simplicity Parenting, you will explore ways in which you as a parent/caregiver can create calm in the home and your child's everyday life: through the process of simplification. Research and strategies will be explored on how to create a calming environment for both parents and their children, while also increasing fostering feelings of connection and happiness.
- Identify circumstances and conditions that create a sense of "disorientation" and overwhelm in children
- Describe ways in which parents can adapt their parenting styles to promote emotional stability
- Acquire a variety of methods to implement in the home that create a sense of calm in children (and in other family members)
- Recognize environmental and societal factors that contribute to the overwhelm in children and leave them feeling disconnected
