Trauma can significantly impact a child, and those caring for them are often left with questions about how to best help. Children with trauma can present significant challenges. They often display patterns of behaviour that can strain the relationship between the child and those caring for them. During this seminar we will explore the impact of trauma on neurological development and how this presents in children’s behaviours. Strategies to support children following experiences of trauma will be presented, giving attendees concrete ways in which they can support the children in their lives and care for themselves.
Parenting with the Brain in Mind E-Course
Every parent wants what’s best for their child and for them to reach their full potential. Healthy brain development is key to a child’s cognitive, psychological, and emotional well-being, and when we understand the brain we can give kids a flying head start!
In this course you will:
(1) Understand the stages of brain development; (2) Recognize what impedes neurological growth in children; (3) Identify the parent or caregiver’s role in fostering resiliency in terms of brain development; (4) Explore ways in which parents can help with the production of brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that foster positive mental health outcomes; (5) Identify concrete strategies that nurture neurological growth in children
We are offering this live-streamed AND recorded event for 30% off to promote trauma-informed care of children and youth.
